ouch

It's late and I can't sleep. My hamstring hurts too much to relax. I did something to hurt it water skiing in July, and it still hurts. After working in the shop all day I was laying back in the recliner tonight trying to put my leg in a position that did not hurt. I finally found one. But, I couldn't hold it there long enough to get much relief. It was holding my thigh at roughly a 45 degree angle and my knee bent at a 45. It dawned on me... that is quite similar to the starting position for getting up slalom. That is the position I hurt it in. Could be something to that I suppose. But, regardless it is killing me right now.

I am usually so glad when Halloween is over. The whole thing is just goofy to me, and it usually causes some knuckle head to throw a pumpkin in the street and make a mess. Or even do something worse. But I didn't pay much attention to it all this year. It just kind of came and went, and that's a good thing.

Well, if you are reading this drivel, you must be a good friend, and I love you for that. Thanks for sitting up with me tonight. I think I'll shut it down and try once more to find sweet sleep.

Have you ever seen the movie "Meet Joe Black?"

Interesting movie - kind of weird, but I really liked it actually. It was one of those movies that is all about discovering what's really important in life. Funny we all know the answer to that, and even the worldly Hollywood types know it so firmly they are able to make a million movies with that theme. They can make us laugh and cry about it... so tell me... WHY is it that such a small percentage of the world lives that way?

Maybe this will help me understand: An apple a day...
Who can't finish that line? Everyone knows Benjamin Franklin said, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Well, even today's science shows ol' Ben was very right. We all know that... do you eat an apple a day? I don't. What's up with that? Are we just stupid or what?

Old church building in Maljamar. The last time I was on my way back to Lubbock from Alamogordo, I stopped to shoot a photo. I have always enjoyed the beauty of an old church building, but I'm really diggin' them these days.

Are You Kidding Me?

Our national debt is out of control, capitalism is under attack, the very fabric of our economy is being threatened by socialist and communistic thinking. But the front page lead story is that Texas Tech wants to recruit students? As opposed to what? The other universities in town that don't really care if they attract students or not? Now if the headline read, "Texas Tech seeks to drive students away!" Now that would be front page news. But "Tech aims to attract students." Really? I'm dyin' here.

Look at the tiny little "Oh by the way" story at the top. "Iran tests missile." No big deal there. A rogue country that hates us is missile testing... but more importantly a university wants to attract students.
